Associate in Arts
Piedmont Community College offers a transfer degree, the Associate in Arts (AA). This degree provides you with a general education core, the foundation for a four-year baccalaureate degree. Courses are offered in the areas of English, literature, fine arts, foreign language, social and behavioral sciences, natural sciences, mathematics, and physical education. Through the use of approved electives, you may focus on specific areas. Upon successful completion of 65 hours of these courses, you will earn an Associate in Arts degree from Piedmont Community College.
Courses are approved for transfer through the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement. Community college graduates who have earned 64 semester hours of academic credit in approved transfer courses with a grade of "C" or better in each course and al overall GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale will receive at least 64 semester hours of academic credit upon admission to a university. Courses may also transfer through bilateral agreements between institutions. Courses offered through bilateral agreements may not transfer to all receiving institutions.
Transfer will be facilitated by the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) between the 16 members of the University of North Carolina System and the North Carolina Community College System. The CAA will enable you, the PCC graduate in the AA degree program, to apply for admission to one of the 16 university system institutions as well as 16 private colleges and universities in North Carolina. Upon acceptance, you will enter as a junior and will have fulfilled institution-wide, lower division, general education requirements.
You will be assigned a faculty advisor who will guide you through the program and assist with the transfer process. You are encouraged to contact your chosen four-year institution early in the Transfer program.
